Charles Grapski was a long-time UF doctoral student who is now an activist in Alachua County politics. Grapski's involvement in Student Government included the formation of the Independent Student Coalition and related parties/organizations. His involvement helped to institutionalize the notion of an "independent" movement against the dominant political force on campus embodied by Florida Blue Key and its allied SG leaders. He became so hated by FBK that their party name during the Spring 1995 Student Government Election, Focus, was allegedly an acronym against him (Fuck Off Charlie, U Suck). In that same campaign, hardball tactics to ensure his defeat lead to the distribution of fliers depicting a falsified criminal record, a defamation of character that eventually lead to settled civil lawsuit that revealed much about The System that kept FBK in power on campus.
