[edit] Summary of Powers

The Honor Court of the University of Florida used to hear cases of Academic Dishonesty and provide recommendation to the University on the suitable punishments for those offences. In recent times, however, this power was taken away from the Honor Court.

[edit] Recent Controversy

The Honor Court, though at the time possessing no real powers, was the battleground for Student Government's sovereignty when Student Senate President Audrey Goldman claimed the Board of Trustees issued a statement saying that Honor Court Chancellors no longer had to complete 2 years of law school and had completed the class Evidence, directly contradicting the Student Government Constitution. This dispute was eventually resolved by deciding the Student Government Constitution took priority, since Student Government is tasked with its own internal regulation, outside of the Board of Trustees decisions. This Controversy has resulted in several members of the Honor Court being appointed to positions they could not, constitutionally, serve. They still currently hold those offices.

[edit] Honor Court Office

Soon after losing the ability to try academic dishonesty cases, the Honor Court office became unused. It is now the Florida Blue Key office.
